Add a streak freeze feature to LingQ, similar to Duolingo, that allows users to protect their daily learning streak when they miss a day. Users could earn or purchase streak freezes to maintain their motivation without losing their progress.

The current streak repair works well, but it’d be nice to have an additional option to book a day off in advance, like the day before after reaching that day’s target. Then when you go online the day after your day off, it’s like you had never taken a day off.
Another option could be multi-day freezes so long as you have the coins balance. This would encourage me to work hard to build a stockpile of coins and then take a series of days off over a vacation. But I suppose this would be controversial and perhaps difficult to implement.
I’ve been told in another discussion that it will never happen here, but I’d rather keep track of the number of days that I have met my goals on LingQ, whether or not they were consecutive. This binary streak system - where you can drop to zero after years of effort by missing a couple of days, seems like it’s there to motivate people who lack self-motivation. Language study is already a well-established part of my daily routine, I’d just like to know how many days in total that I’ve met my goals.

A good suggestion. For now, you could just change your time zone to 5 hours back.
When I was at sea in international waters, I was looking at possible 48-hour periods where I wouldn’t be able to get online. I got on board that ship knowing that I’d probably lose my LingQ streak if I missed a day and then couldn’t get on in time to repair it. (Things did end up working out - I was in port often enough to repair the missed streaks - but it was not a sure thing.) It would’ve been nice to be able to say “I know when I’ll be unavailable - here’s a pile of coins, I’ve earned a vacation.”
I honestly don’t get this. We already have a repair feature to cheat if you break a streak. A streak is what it is, days in a row studying, if you miss a day you aren’t on a streak?
Honestly please explain to me how being able to lie to yourself if you were consistent or not helps you learn.
If you can’t maintain a steak it is exactly that, you couldn’t do it. That is fine, there are lots of things you can’t do in life why claim you can when you can’t?
They have the repair feature because the majority of people will lose their interest if their streak is broken. Or it might take a long time for them to go back into their studies. It’s just there to keep people’s interest in learning. It really doesn’t matter. But if it motivates a person, why not have the feature.
‘Cheating’? Really?
If you spend a month in immersion in your TL country, or only read a book in your TL 3 hours a day on the beach for a week, LingQ will let you update its words- and listening-hours counters, but it won’t add any points for those days.
That’s one way to break a LingQ streak while actually working on your TL.
I’ve set my activity threshold to the minimum - 50 points -, so some days, to keep my streak, I just open LingQ for a few minutes and mark a few blue cognates as known. Luckily for me, I learn Spanish, not Chinese.

If people lose interest just because their streak is broken, it simply means that they’ve lost interest in the language. In that case, they should just stop learning that language, and that’s it.
