I'm having a problem importing YouTube videos

Even with the latest version, 6.0.1, importing videos from YouTube still doesn’t work.

Those subtitles are definitely there, I agree. Hopefully this will help LingQ team to have one of the problem videos.

Deleting and reinstalling the app cleared up the problem. YouTube imports are working fine for me on LingQ again!

ios 6.0.2(9) it work.

I use an app called ‘4K Youtube to MP3’. It downloads an audio from url. Than I add the audio file to my new lesson. LingQ can creat the text from the audio file

We pushed an update for iOS app that should deal with the YouTube Import issue. Please update the app to version 6.0.2.

@20915 What do you mean? If you see my latest message above, we already released an app update with a fix. Importing works properly. Please update the app to the latest version.

I did the first update but I did not see any notification for the latest IOS update which was just done six hours ago. Up until this latest update my app was still crashing audio wise . Also, if you’re using the app, you can’t use the forum so you have no way of knowing about these updates, I feel that LingQ should be sending email notifications when you do such important updates after ysuch a long period of utube not working ——especially when you don’t allow full functions in the app . the website does not function well on an iPad with my accessibility functions, so I have to sign in on the website in order to find your messages and answer this one . The YouTube function is the most important function of your app.

thanks for responding so quickly, but you should make a notification that there is a new iOS update, only put on the App Store six hours ago. If that is somewhere in the forum, it’s buried so deeply. I never saw it. Thank you.

@20915 Great, glad to hear it’s sorted out. This thread is regarding YouTube import issue, app update for that was released on February 3rd. The update from yesterday included a fix for the Playlist issue.

They did add a banner to the app stating that the latest release had an import fix. Admittedly I had to uninstall and reinstall the app for it to work, but using a banner in that way is excellent.

Thanks, but how did you know to reinstall? There was no banner for me . If a reinstall was required that probably should’ve been a banner. I’m grateful it was fixed. I just feel there should be better communication with users .An auto email is very easy to generate.. . I never use the website for accessibility reasons and the forum is not on the app. A banner or email would’ve been appropriate for such a major issue. YouTube importing is the main way to use the app. We already have much reduced function from using it on a website ( no forum or writing , no Netflix and other platform integration) . Back to learning ! Cheers

If you look above for a post by Dario26, you will see the tip. I saw the banner, I can’t comment on your case. I expect LingQ didn’t realise some of use had to reinstall, but they seem to have fixed that. It is frustrating, but I see no better alternative to LingQ on iOS.

If your device/app/browser automatically blocks ads and pop-ups you may not see those banners. At least that’s how it is for me. I need to figure out how to enable them for this site.

Thanks .

I got the banner that the utube didn’t work, I get banners all the time to rate the app but I never got this banner. This app is glitchy . I have to delete and re load often.

I guess everyone is missing the point that I can’t see the forum on the app. The only way I know you are responding is that I get an email. I feel we should have got an email about this. I’m very IOS savvy. I’ve been using LingQ for a year and communication with users is weak. I do agree it’s one of the better apps but I’m actively searching for a full service app on IOS. I’m ending this conversation since it’s a pain for me to come to the forum to respond due to lack of disability function for me on the website. Thanks to all who responded . Back to my Italian. Have a nice day all
