BUG that makes it impossible to use the site

so this is one of the worst bugs yet since the whole point of this site is to click a word and find the definition but when i click the word it says a completely different word and the word im trying to click stays blue. Im just trying to study but this is really getting in the way

Yeah. They really need to get rid of all of these bugs in the reader. I don’t care about any other parts of the site. There can be bugs with the Tutors or Writing Exchange or the AI stuff, but the reader needs to work right. It’s the whole point of LingQ.

As long as the reading and listening works none of the other stuff matters but if the reader is so broken that you can’t even use it, or you have to reload after every page what’s even the point of using LingQ.

I’ve been trying to get in a couple of hours a day of reading but all these bugs are really making it a struggle.

Yes i completely agree. This morning it was fine i read thousands of words but just a few hours ago this started happening.

I’ve been using LingQ for two years now, and I don’t think this bug existed before.

I wouldn’t say the site is impossible to use, but the bug is annoying.

But I don’t see the bug always. Sometimes the marking of lingq’s work correctly.

The desktop version of the website has been practically unusuable for about two weeks now (MacOS, chrome, incl. the latest updates).

It really speaks to how bad things are getting when you have people saying things like, “Hey, on the bright side, the core functionality of LingQ sometimes works” :+1:

It’s completely unacceptable to allow such a critical bug to persist for so long. Why am I paying for a broken application?

for some reason i just barely started to notice this yesterday. Idk if its only affecting youtube videos or something but still this is a pretty unacceptable bug since this is the core function of the site. I don’t know of many sites that get this many bugs, even language learning ones. At the bare minimum you should be able to click and look up words reliably

I don’t understand why support has not commented on this issue. That’s not like them at all. This must be a serious bug. Zoran said it was reported to the team 19 days ago and still no word on what’s going on. How about an update from support on this!

I’m experiencing the same bug. When I select a word, a different word is displayed in the widget.

Features like AI chat and TTS are not the key features; users can use the platform without them. However, the problem reported in this thread is much more critical because it impacts the core reason people use LingQ.

There are already several alternative platforms available. The reason users stay with LingQ is either because they still find it superior or out of sheer inertia, not exclusivity. If LingQ cannot maintain its basic usability and core functionality, users will leave. Please treat this issue with the urgency it deserves.

on a side note even when there are bugs there should be some sort of site wide alert at the top of the screen or something that says “hey we are aware this is a problem we are actively working on it and it will be fixed soon” But i really feel like some of the people who work on lingq must not actually use the site and understands it as a hardcore user does. Thats why we always seem to find new bugs because we use it.

I mean yeah you CAN use it but its miserable. You have to be able to get into a flow state in language learning and its hardly possible when bugs that are straight up confusing take away your focus.

LingQ is in a very unfortunate state right now and it seems like it’s been a problem for at least 2 months now. Hopefully it can be fixed soon given how long it’s been around and how many people have been mentioning it.

Guess the only way to use this without the glitch/error is through the phone. Seems to work just fine. Computer on the other hand… haha

I think it has to do with the new AI features implementation

@mark @zoran Hello, you should treat this issue with urgency and give it serious attention.

It is completely messed up and unusable; refreshing doesn’t help either.

The entire page is jumping around erratically.

Same problem here. I click on a word and it selects a completely different one

thought this problem was only happening on my old computer, but it is occurring on both my new and old computers. I think this issue started about a week ago. At first, refreshing the page allowed me to continue studying, but yesterday and today the problem has become much worse. Now I have to refresh the page constantly.

If LingQ cannot maintain its basic functionality, I do not think it is worth paying for a service like this.
