Where to find good content to import

hape, thank you very much for information.

I know many contents to import, but they are written in Japanese.

However, I found the following site for learning Chinese written in various languages

http://learning.chinese.cn/

free podcast with transcript for Chinese learners in English

hape, I added your suggestions to the list of resources. Pretty cool!

dilemme, I went through your suggested resources and found that very few of them had Chinese text or pure Chinese content. The videos/clips were filled with Japanese and English, which is not ideal for importing and studying on LingQ. However, I did add Bitex, as it definitely seems useful. Please let me know if any of the others have pure Chinese text or pure Chinese audio w/ transcript.

I’m sure these sites can be useful to members (especially those who are Japanese), so you might even want to post some of them on a separate thread.

A Chinese Course with audios and dialogues (simpl./trad.) from Rutgers University

http://chinese.rutgers.edu/content_cs.htm

The audios are a bit difficult to download, but it’s possible if one looks into the page source text.

Thanks, I’ve added this one too.

I’m sure all the techies will enjoy looking in the source code, but the rest should still have no problem listening to the audio on Rutgers’ site.

http://www.dhcca.org/indexE.htm

has a lot of stories and other material (but mostly without audios) for children:
e.g.
小故事 (Stories)
儿童文学 (Children’s Literature)
儿童笑话 (Children’s Jokes)
插图文学 (Comics)

From Oxford University:
Multimedia Chinese Language:
A supplementary Chinese course at elementary-intermediate level

Each lesson consists of the following standard sections:
Video and text
Vocabulary
Listening and speaking
Grammar exercises
Characters
Multiple choice

Conversational Mandarin Chinese Online

Dept.of AAAS California State University, Long Beach

15 units (dialogues and mp3’s)

And the last one for today:

Chinese Voices Project
A collection of mini-essays with mp3 audio for students of Chinese language and culture from Clavis Sinica

(for absolute beginners)

You can download all the mp3 audio files as well as PDF transcripts on the following address.

For many, many languages - Rhinospike offers texts plus audios in different levels and quality. Sometimes the same text was recorded by different people.
You may request to have your own texts recorded, but you never know when you will get the mp3 and in what quality…
You may also do recordings in your native language to help others and shift your own requests a bit upwards in the list

learnchinesepod.com contains audio lessons that include a lot of English. However, the biggest issue is that there is no Chinese text on the site. Pinyin can be imported, but it doesn’t work well with LingQing.

I’ve added Rhinospike to each respective language. Clavis Sinica is already shared in its entirety on the Library. I added dhcca.org, but the other sites, while offering good resources, have little or no importable text that I could find.

www.newsweekjapan.jp

Newsweek Japan is good if you want just text. The articles are well laid out, instantly familiar if you read the English version and it isn’t quite as intimidating as when you look at a Japanese newspaper.

No audio though unfortunately.

Thanks, I’ve added this to the list.

L’affaire du coffret

I’ve found this amazing Italian webTV, it’s all about technology, tech gadgets and software. They have thousands of videos, all of them come with transcriptions

There are even some english videos (mostly from CNET) subtitled in Italian.

I couldn’t import them because they are copyrighted, and they did not allow me to put them on LingQ. But still it’s a great resource.

Nice children’s story in English and Chinese (both with audio):

The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter

While there are no transcripts, for advance learners of English I would recommend the following Canadian story-teller, Stuart McLean.

And for advanced French learners, another Canadian source of very funny material in Quebecois tetesaclaques.tv - Têtes à claques, clips d'animations humoristiques en ligne

English

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I’ve added these resources (with the exception of a couple).

@chikaraishihara - I’d like to ask the producers of Big Vision Podcast if we can import their stuff into our library. Have you already done this?
