does every word that comes up during lessons count as a read word on lingQ even when its on netflix or youtube?

Hey mate.

This is a part of it. The experience can be connected to your LINGQ account. You can LINGQ words, automatically record the stats and complete the lesson through the LanguageMaster extension.

Okay is there any way to trial the extension before purchasing?

I should clarify a few things.

  1. We now offer 2 products (Rooster Video Tools & Rooster MasterLingQ)
  2. Video Tools is free to download and use but requires an active subscription for certain features (Including LingQ integration)
  3. MasterLingQ is available as a one off purchase and its functionality is limited to the LingQ website itself.

The Video Tools extension will be available for download from 24th December.

Users can refer to the Getting Started Guide to find out more about setup and features included.

Thanks, it looks really cool. I really like the idea of being able to use lingQ all from the video player so you don’t have to look back and forth while learning.

Do you think it would be possible to have it work for websites such as emby or plex?

I use emby and its basically a streaming site for your own uploaded library. You can add subtitles and toggle them on and off via the website. If i could lingQ while watching my own local library on a single video player it would be a game changer.

Plex we have looked at previously. Unfortunately not many subtitle options were available outside of English and the audio was restricted. If the situation has changed please let us know.

We have plans for this but it’s not a short term goal.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Well im not very savy on the technical side but at least for emby i just upload my own video and subtitles that i find online on to my server and the website plays it like any other streaming site.

These websites mostly rely on you uploading the content rather than having its own library to offer so i imagine if you were to mess around with it you would have to create an account and upload a few videos yourself.

Maybe this is what you guys plan to do but i know that Migaku (another language learning extension) offers a way to play local files through a browser and maybe this would be the better route. Here is a clip explaining how they do it https://youtu.be/PxN53b629sU?si=Nhz7Lm11GyBTz-xa&t=482

You are probably wondering why not just use migaku? Well its more based off of Anki/their own website and there is no way to add lingQ functionality

Hey, How is it different from the extensions i have? is it mostly the addition of a.i. integration?

@scrubtaku

Video Tools V2 is just for Chromium Browsers. We may support Firefox again but not in the short term.

oh thats a shame because chrome runs lingq pretty bad when lessons get larger. Thanks for letting me know.

Like LINGQ.com runs bad? That shouldn’t matter when you are on YouTube/Netflix

Yes the actual website runs pretty slow when you have longer lessons i have noticed. It gets really laggy but if its through your extension maybe its different. Chrome for some reason always takes a ton of resources for some odd reason.

This is a tough problem to solve but we have a fairly good solution for the Video Tools. Browsers in general struggle with large amounts of elements on a single page. The Video Tools holds the lesson in memory and displays the current timestamp only. The Rooster Reader from MasterLingQ is more primitive as it just force loads the entire lesson and hopes for the best. The LingQ reader is a bit more sophisticated but not perfect, it adds more chunks as you scroll through so the lesson may start fast but then lag for longer lessons. I believe they are hard enforcing the 6000 word cap which may fix the issue without really fixing the issue.

Definitely interested…but not a fan of subscription-based membership…when are you going to provide details and offer the lifetime option?

Hi mate
I hope this email finds you well.

I recently attempted to install the Master LingQ extension manually on both Firefox Developer Edition and the standard Firefox browser. However, I encountered a few issues that I would appreciate your assistance with:

The “Rooster” icon does not appear after installation, leaving me unable to access most of the tools provided by the extension.

The extension displays as "inactive," and I am unsure if this is expected behavior or if there is a configuration step I might have missed.

Could you kindly advise if these issues are normal during the manual installation process? If not, I would greatly appreciate any troubleshooting steps or recommendations you can provide to resolve this.

Kindly also provide me a a link where I can download the most uptodate version of MASTER LINGQ as I do not receive email updates on most uptodate versions.

Thank you for your assistance, and I look forward to your guidance.
