The purpose of these mini stories is to generate parallel content in many languages, not only languages currently available at LingQ. If we get enough content this way we may be adding new languages to LingQ.
The five levels do not necessarily correspond to increasing levels of difficulty. Rather each level focuses on certain basic concepts that all languages express, purpose, intention, wishes, if, and so forth. Only level one is limited to the present tense. These stories also try to use the most common verbs of the language. The most common verbs in any language, are also very often the irregular verbs, such as verbs which express “to be”“to have”"to go"etc.Each story has so much repetition, that most of the stories are accessible even for beginners, but easier for beginner 2 learners as Evgueny says. I guess we will find out how beginners react to these stories.
However these stories are not a course. This is a source of supplementary listening and reading material for people to practice at various stages of their learning. These story do not replace other lessons, neither beginner lessons or more advanced lessons. It is like an exercise room. By having these available as translations learners who may have trouble understanding, even after looking words up, can refer to a translation. it is also helpful for people who are studying more than one language.
It a lot of work for Zoran to coordinate the volunteers. Please be patient. Many volunteers are working.
I would like to repeat French basic vocabulary using Mini-stories in French.
But I can’t find them in the library.
Don’t they exist really?
I haven’t seen either the French or the Hebrew stories yet. I would guess that poor overworked Zoran hasn’t had time to upload them yet. I do hope he can get the Hebrew stories uploaded soon though. I really can’t handle another translated Tony Blair speech.
Even English has only 20 lessons, despite Google Drive has newer audio files. Is it so hard to find someone who can help Zoran with uploading?
I’d say it demotivates to make new translations.
And does it really take so much time to upload the sent files onto Google Drive?
At least just to have a backup and to see the progress.

I wouldn’t say there is any lack of motivation for new translations. I have lot of volunteers working on translations for 30+ languages at the moment. It takes more time for some of them, and also we require certain quality for recordings, which in some cases results in rejecting provided recordings.
Anyway, I will upload more courses/lessons soon (currently away on vacation and working less hours than usual) but will be ready for uploading huge number of new lessons soon.
I don’t have perfect internet connection at the moment, as soon as I am back home I’ll update Google Folder too.
Sorry, I did not expect to have the 2nd separated course.

I want to join in a Japanese mini story. But, I can’t find mini stories of Japanese. I always must use the app on mobile to learn Japanese, but, many lessons what I can understand. So,

No Mini-Stories in Japanese for now. Volunteers are working on it and stories should be on the site soon!
I would like to give my compliments to the Chinese level 1. The voice is very clear, speed perfect for beginners, and the contents are very well adapted for a beginner with a lot of repetition. I am looking forward to many more lessons from her if that is possible!

Well I’ve started with Bulgarian but could do with some help given the slow rate of being able to cajole my friends into helping (I don’t speak it myself but know a couple of people who do). Is that something you know a speaker of?
I’d also like to see Finnish, since that’s what I’m learning right now and there isn’t a whole lot of high-quality audio material on LingQ (the FSI courses are low-fi sounding, and the Se On Tosi Helppoa ones are so … grindingly … slow … although the Suomen Mestari recordings are good).
I don’t know any speakers no. Is it the actual speakers that you need? vs translators.
Just discovering recently that it isn’t necessarily too expensive to scrape together a bit of recorded content. I’m starting with Malay/Indonesian, which has the luxury of already being released, so the content can be anything…
Finnish mini stories would be useful to me too. But the repetitive nature of the mini stories seems to mean you don’t get as much value for your money when you are paying your speakers. So for Finnish I feel like I’d want to help in some other way, like by making a dent in Who Is She.
Hmm, if the bar for releasing Bulgarian would be no lower than 50 mini stories, that’s kind of daunting.
Both speakers and translators. I’m nowhere near good enough to do either myself.
To be fair, one of my Bulgarian translator/speakers is doing it for LingQ credits, so that her husband can subscribe for free for a while and actually learn some Bulgarian himself. But I think we are near the 50 story threshold by now.
