Hi, are you and your wife still working on it? Is there any progress with the Mini Stories and the recording? I could help with the grammar guide.
Yes, we are working on the grammar guide and hope to update soon. On the other hand, we are not involved in anything else like the Ministories, so I cannot say anything about that, sorry.
Hello, Sahra.
My name is Paulius. I am a Lithuanian teacher and podcast host. Are there any ways that I could help you with the addition of Lithuanian into LingQ. I could help with content creation or maybe in some other ways.
If I could be somehow useful, feel free to connect with me.
My email is pauliusrjuodis@gmail.com
All the best to you and all the Lithuanian learners!
By the way, here’s a link to my podcast for Lithuanian learners. Maybe it will prove useful!
All the best!
Thank you for that podcast, if I ever get to a level where I can understand the basics, ill be sure to go through all of it!
It seems that Sarah doesn’t work in LingQ anymore. The one that appears to be in charge now is @nsprung. He has asked for volunteers for materials (news, mini stories…) to send him an email at north@lingq.com.
Ačiū už viską, kad darai už šią gražį kalbą!
Hi @nsprung ,
are there any news? What’s still required for Lithianian and what’s in progress?
Is there anything that should be tested or reviewed before it can be uploaded to LingQ for the public?
@Cassius90 We haven’t had any new progress towards adding Lithuanian. We still need the Mini Stories to be readied, which quality audio by a native speaker.
If you know anyone who can help with this, please have them send me an email at north@lingq .com and I’ll be happy to help.
Dear,
This is difficult for me to understand.
According to Sahra.lingq’s message in Sep '23 on this same message thread, Lithuanian “would probably be the next language to be added, other languages were not ready yet”
I know Sahra does not work in Lingq anymore, but unless the criteria has changed between Sep’23 and now, it seems Lithuanian was ready or almost ready last September.
Then Nsprung’s message on Dec’ 23 that “At the moment we are still missing a Grammar Guide for Lithuanian. Once a volunteer submits it, we can start to plan launching the language.”, which is why I volunteered to submit the grammar (done)
Now however the Ministories are still lacking, which was not mentioned before.
This is not the first time that confusing information was provided about Lithuanian.

Zoran wrote (June 2020) “For Lithuanian we already have all 60 Mini Stories translated and recorded. Volunteer sent them a few weeks ago.
As soon as we launch LingQ 5.0, Lithuanian will be added.”

Mark wrote (April 2022) “It looks like Lithuanian is close. There are some additional requirements that still need to be fulfilled there.”
So unless I’m missing something or misinterpreting something, there are messages since 2020 that Lithuanian was “almost there”. And yet new and diverging messages keep coming up.
I feel sad and disappointed about this.
@Cassius90 @Jokojoko83 We did in fact update our criteria for adding new languages.
One of the criteria was in fact updated - We increased the standards for the Mini Stories course. We’ve had previous languages added with courses created by volunteers that unfortunately have had a number of issues.
We want to be more certain of the quality of stories we can share. For this reason the Lithuanian stories are not considered ready at the moment. That being said, we do have a volunteer working on them at this moment.
What about writing to language faculties in Lithuania and offering a student a life time membership…?
This is a possibility but at the moment we have a volunteer working on them who is already a LingQ user. People outside of LingQ may or may not be interested in using LingQ, and even if we promise a free membership they may or may not be able to deliver text and audio with the quality we require to add the language.
Hello,
I am a student, first year at a university here in Kaunas, Lithuania.
I, like many others it seems, would like to learn Lithuanian with lingq.
May I ask what is currently required so Lithuanian can finally be supported in lingq?
It has officially been a year since this forum was started and there are no timetables nor communication of what is needed for Lithuanian to be added to lingq.
Thank you,
Best regards.
@nsprung
Please read my message above/previous message.
What is the current timeframe for Lithuanian being added into Lingq?
What is needed to decrease the time, how can people help?
We don’t have a timeframe yet, unfortunately.
We need some edits to be made to the texts of the Lithuanian Mini Stories to fit our standards. After that, we need all 60 stories recorded with high quality audio by a native speaker.
If you know someone who can help with this, send me an email at north@lingq.com
Hey,
any update on the Lithuanian course?
Thank you!
We still don’t have a timeframe. As these new languages are made with the help of volunteers, it can be some time before Lithuanian is added.
It’s quite frustrating and disappointing. I wish you could just add what you have and then ask someone to improve them. This way we could start importing our own content.
I mean, I get your frustration. But then people would just be upset that the quality wasn’t sufficient when it actually was published. I don’t know how easy it is to improve on an already made product if you want to have the same speaker which seems to be the case for LingQ.
