An hour or so after I last posted to the following thread:
https: //forum.lingq.com/t/issue-with-translation-function/1412667
" Issue with Translation Function "
I noticed that the thread had become inaccessible from the list of “Recently Active Threads” on the LingQ “Community” tab, i.e. this page:
https: //www.lingq.com/en/community/forum
LingQ Language Forums
It was still listed there, but whereas before if you clicked on the topic there, it would take you to the correct thread, now it does not. It takes you instead to an older thread with the same title. This one:
https: //forum.lingq.com/t/issue-with-translation-function/70064
" Issue with Translation function "
One reason why is because the link from the list of “Recently Active Threads” does not include the topic number. This is the link from that page:
https: //forum.lingq.com/t/issue-with-translation-function
https://forum.lingq.com/t/issue-with-translation-function
So presumably previously if the topic number was not included it would take you to the most recently active thread with that name, but now it shows you an older one instead.
I strongly recommend 2 fixes for this:
- If the link does not include the topic number, then show the most recent thread with that name.
But more importantly:
- Include the topic number in all places where you link to a forum thread, especially on the list of “Recently Active Threads” on the LingQ “Community” tab, which is the most common way for people to access the forum. This way you will never be taken to the wrong thread.
Thank you!
Edit: I duplicated each link above with an extra version with a space after https: so that you can see the text of the link. And also because for some reason the link to https: //www.lingq.com/en/community/forum was sometimes being automatically changed to point to https: //forum.lingq.com/ instead.
