Arabic first lessonis written in arabic, how to read that?

I understand we need full immersion but how can I read a full first lesson given in arabic if I have to translate word by word and I have never seen the arabic alphabet? so surely I cannot read it, this is my first try on the tool so I feel confused, should I learn the alphabet and how to read it fluently before give it a try?

Different language, but essentially the same issue and recommendation.

Note that you don’t neccessarely need full immersion to learn a language (although it helps) and that LingQ isn’t a language teaching tool. It is a reader with some extra gimmicks aimed at language learners, most noticeable the “dictionary” you build up yourself while working through texts (what is refered here as LingQ’s).

You can try to work through the lesson trying to link the script to the audio, but I guess that doing some study on the alphabet and the phonetics as well as some basic grammar and syntax will easen the path for you, especially if the latter differs strongly from the languages you are already familiar with.

For any language that uses an alphabet different from the latin alphabet, it’s crucial that you learn how to read it before doing anything else.

Download the excellent app Write it! (Arabic) and you will learn how to read and write the characters in no time. Then, come back here and start with the mini stories.
