Any plans for adding new languages after 5.0?

@MikeMac and any other relevant users,

Can I have a copy of all the audio and transcripts of the Swahili Mini Stories and any other prepared Swahili content?

I mean we’re almost already half way through the year, so perhaps they’re aiming to release the next bundle next year.

I don’t understand why they have 60 ministories for some languages, yet they are not posted or uploaded. These things keep me from subscribing to LingQ when I know it’s an amazing tool and I want to support Steve. This is very disappointing and ridiculous

I will have the mini stories for Irish ready soon (in a couple of months, maybe sooner). I’ll submit them as soon as they’re ready. Any idea on the wait for a new language? Is it first submitted, first added? What else, beyond the mini stories, is needed?

Hi mateos42, before recording the mini stories in Irish we need to have an audio sample recorded based on our instructions. Please contact me at sahra @ lingq . com to receive more details. Other that mini stories, we need a grammar guide, some local news websites and some dictionaries.

I’m hoping for Thai and Pashto

I am waiting for the Tamil language. I hope they will add it soon.

I wish LingQ would add Thai. I was surprised to learn from a guy I play basketball with here in Chiang Mai who works for Ling, another language app, that Thai is one of their top three revenue sources, out of dozens of languages they have on there. Here’s hoping LingQ gets with the program.

Tamil and Thai would be good. I’m waiting for Lithuanian, Latvian and Hindi.

Please add languages in some form (LingQ-light) so we can import, translate and add words. Irish people learned Irish in school. Waiting for mini-stories delays revision and for some people the mini-stories will be too basic.

I’m going to throw something out there…
Will it be easier to do new languages with an assist from chatGPT?
As in, have chatGPT translate the mini-stories into X language and then ask a native speaker to read/correct to see if it’s correct or not?

You can do the same with Google Translate. So if people really wanted there would be no obstacle in doing so.

It looks like Georgian has finally made it here. I see Afrikaans and Slovenian too. Happy to see more languages to explore.

On your “Public Project” spread sheet, I see that Irish says “resuming in January”. Is that still correct? Were you referring to January 2024?

This Facebook group is aimed at getting Irish onto LingQ. It needs someone willing to translate some stories.

That’s a good idea, I hadn’t thought of that.
