📚 LingQ Book Challenge

@Elle.LingQ.Team what kind of tag do we need to add? Because there are three (book, books and Books) - I added book and books so far.

I’m currently reading Twilight in Indonesian and enjoying the challenge as an extra bit of motivation to get me reading an extra page or two! Great Idea!

Hi David, tagging the tag “book” is great :+1:

awesome, just tagged the second one as well.

You know what would be nice?

  1. If it showed the title of the book next to the batches after you finished
  2. If you could filter by target language. For example sometimes I like to look at what other people read in French to get ideas

Hi Elle.
I’m loving the book challenge. I finished reading my book in german, but the progress bar is stuck on cca 99%. It should be 100%. Could you please let me know why is that or if I’m doing something wrong?
Thank you. Happy Holidays.

If it’s only against yourself, it would be nice if the little Rank icon next to the challenge showed your percentage as well. Also, there is no need for a leaderboard - does it show how many books someone has read? No, seems just to be how far people are through their book!

And as someone else has pointed out, it’s kind of pointless when there is such a disparity in the size of ‘books’. Looks like someone just shoe-horned an idea into an existing structure.

This is one ‘challenge’ I think I’ll leave.

I’ve imported lots of books and they just appear as imported lessons. Nothing gets tracked as a book.

These are both great ideas! We are tweaking this challenge as we go, so the community’s thoughts are much appreciated. I will pass these on. Thanks.

Hi there, Happy Holidays to you too

Hmm, that is certainly not right. Let me look into that for you. What’s the name of the book? Thanks.

P.S. Congratulations on finishing a book in German!

Hi there, have you tagged them with “book”? You can then select them on the Book Challenge page. This post on the LingQ Blog explains in detail how the challenge works: Introducing LingQ's Book Challenge – LingQ Blog

Let me know if you have any other questions at all. Thanks.

I like the idea of a rank system based on the number of books read! That is a way to make it a competition between members for sure. I will chat with the team about that, thanks.

Got it: “Das Wunder von Narnia”. Looking into it now.

Is it possible that you didn’t actually complete one of the lessons? Perhaps one of the chapters was partially read?

That was probably the reason. I went through again and it worked! Thank you.

I’ve tagged 3 books with “book”.
This doens’t mention tags so I’m none the wiser.

Right you are! I am going to add a section in the post about tagging courses with “book”. These three books are tagged “book” and don’t show up in the dropdown on the Book Challenge page? Just to make sure, you are in the language that the books were imported as? I will get to the bottom of this for you!

Is it broken? I tagged my book with both, but it’s still not displayed in the selection list. The books tag worked only five days ago.

Oh dear, let me check on that. Sorry for the inconvenience. Could you please let me know which language and the name of the book? Thanks so much.
