Just wondering… is there a way to write in LingQ outside of posting on one’s wall or submitting a writing sample to the writing exchange? It would be great if there was, say, a diary feature where word count is tracked but the writing isn’t necessarily public….
I haven’t seen that feature anywhere, but you can manually input the amount of words you’ve written. So I keep a word file for each language I practice and when I write an entry, I check the amount of words and add it on lingq. It doesn’t give coins or anything, but it keeps track of the amount. I do the same thing for listening and speaking if done outside of lingq.
Sure…just “import a lesson”. You could write directly there. Or, what I do, is write something outside of LingQ…like in Evernote or Notion or just a text file. I’ll usually then check how DeepL might right what I intended. Or paste my text into ChatGPT and ask it to correct it or modify it in a way that is more colloquial. Then I’ll paste the revised version into Evernote along with my original just for reference. Then I’ll usually post the revised version from ChatGPT into a new lesson on LingQ.
I keep all these in a separate course or set of courses for my own output (which is of course private)
Thanks for the feedback Eric and Julian. Importing as a lesson from another app is a good idea (and my OCD brain would definitely require that I organize writings into courses, LOL.) I don’t use ChatGPT because I’ve been cautioned by Portuguese people that it is awful in European Portuguese. But I get the idea.
It would be neato burrito if there was a function in LingQ to just type into one’s private space directly, but in the interim or if that never happens, you’ve given me some good ideas for work-arounds.
Cheers
Np Kristen…when you say private space, what do you envision?
I guess I was picturing something like this type of dialog box, which just automagically turns into a lesson that could be part of a course. Of course, one could then either keep it private or make it public.
