With a draw, France and Switzerland would have had 4 points and Ecuador, who beat Honduras, 3 points. Definitely not a good agreement. I don’t think it’s mathematically possible to qualify with 4 points after two matches. And anyway I don’t see why we would make this kind of deal.
David, get a bucket.
OK guys, I think I get this game now ![]()
“What I don’t understand is why didn’t Joachim Löw put Schweinsteiger and Klose earlier on the pitch . Klose’s goal just proved my indignation”

He isn’t the best striker ever, but he’s Klose.

@Jorgis: I’m only saying that it was a possibility . Of course that only after 2 matches this theory that I was talking about wouldn’t have come to be but you’re forgetting the other match .
That deal could’ve been possible because France has better relations with Switzerland than with the other 2,at least I thinks so.
Portugal-America 2-2??? Portugal’s team was really lame to make a draw with a team like that.
“Portugal-America 2-2??? Portugal’s team was really lame to make a draw with a team like that.”
I think you´re underestimating the americans. They don´t have any famous players, but they´re disciplined, in good shape and they got a lot of team-spirit. They´ve defeated Ghana, Germany didn´t…
Well in way you’re right but I was just recalling America’s past in football and frankly they don’t have a tradition involving this sport. Also as you know no match resembles another and I assure you if Ghana would have played as good as against your national team they would’ve defeated America no problem.
Anyway can’t wait to see Germany’s match against America, and I hope Klose and Schweinsteiger will play from the beginning .
Football aside, we can be sure about one thing: some American exchange students in Germany behave like a complete pr**k.
Quite literally.
What a great World Cup.
The only thing that came from soccer (or football) today is internet creativity. Lots of fantastic goals this tournament, it’s unfortunate that controversy and poor sportsmanship overshadow them.
I guess it depends on what you compare it too. Compared to other sports, you may be right. But compared to what is football in general, I see nothing to complain about. There hasn’t been any big controversy so far. It has nothing to do with some matches like Barça-Real. And Suarez hasn’t been charged of racism, no banana has been thrown onto a pitch, Italian players won’t have the time to show how good they are at diving, etc…
Spain out. England out. Italy out.
(Germany can’t take anything for granted either…)
Apropos Suarez: I reckon the reason he keeps getting accused of biting people is because his teeth stick out! He doesn’t actually mean to bite opponents, he just means to butt them with his head. But the teeth are the first point of contact!
That’s my theory ![]()
There’s another theory. It says he has some beaver or rodent genes in his blood, when his teeth start itching he feels an urge to bite, it’s not his fault, otherwise his teeth keep growing and growing ![]()
Who would’ve thought that so many teams with an important tradition in football would leave like that.
On a side note , I think we should admit the sad part of football is that it’s becoming less spectacular than it used to be. Who doesn’t miss the days in which the best generation , in my opinion, was delighting us with their awesome plays. I’m talking of course of the generation of Zidane,Figo,Ronaldo,Toldo,Oliver Kahn,Raul ‘Madrid’ etc…
The Central/South American teams are impressive this cup. Costa Rica and Chile especially. I think Argentina will come alive more and more when the playoffs begin.
I hope Ghana makes it through. Love their football. Asamoah Gyan still got it.
@Madara: There have still been a lot of beautiful plays and wonderful goals this tournament too! Tim Cahill of Australia has my vote so far for best.
