I recently started using LingQ and totally fell in love with it (on my android phone). Particularly the feature where you play a video and the sentences you read become interactive with the video and audio , so that you can click on the play button next to each sentence to replay the recorded video and audio exactly where that sentence starts. This makes it so easy to repeat listening to a sentence, skip a few sentences forward, or back. This means you dont have to rely on the 5 seconds forwards and back button, instead it is much quicker and interactive to hit the play button for each sentence. At the same time in this mode you are also able create LingQs and see definitions. To me this feature in itself made LingQ worth it for me, and I liked it so much that I wanted to buy an iPad to get even more real estate for using this feature. From reading on this forum, I also understood that iPad was the prefered device for many LingQ users here.
This made it even more surprising and disappointing when I bough an iPad just for LingQ and I discovered that this feature seems to be entirely missing from LingQ on iPad. Instead I have to choose between either the black background where the text is synced with video and audio, but with no possibility of clicking on words, or the regular mode for just having the text being able to be LingQ’ed but no sync with video/audio.
Why is arguably one of the most helpful features missing in iPad? I thought iPad app was supposed to be better, not worse than the “simpler” smartphone app?
