why use the 其中 here when you could say 对这个原因， 我不知道 to mean for these reasons, i do not know?
It isn’t saying “for these reasons, I do not know” or “among other reasons”, as was suggested above.
It is saying “I don’t know the reason/s for (literally; within) this”.
That’s normal English sentence structure. Here it is switched in Chinese to; “The reason/s for this, I do not know.”
这其中的原因 = the reason/s for this
The author is saying people in Taizhou celebrate the festival on a different date than usual, but he doesn’t know why.
