What do you Think about the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft?

I’m intrigued to go back to e-ink for writing on PDFs, for example, on my own planners, taking notes, and writing by hand, and for reading Kindles. In a way, that is the most analog as possible.
The idea is to substitute paper but have the same writing experience.

However, the color option is a must.

You might know better about what the market is offering right now.

I already had iPads, but I don’t have the analog feeling when I write on them, and I don’t need all the extra features.

Thanks

They have just updated the iPad Air.

…thinking mode ON…

Can’t comment on that colorsoft but it looks really good, color tech seems to be improving fast. There is alot of room for e-ink color tech to improve. I have Boox 3c which I bought 2nd hand a few years back. I use it mainly to read kindle and for note taking.

Initially I got a samsung tablet for the same purpose but my kid kept wanting to use it so I had to get an e-ink tablet that is only good for reading and bad at everything else that a kid would want to use it for.

You can also look into getting one of those paper feel screen protector for ipad for the analog paper feel.

I saw the Boox a few minutes ago. It seems interesting. When you write on it, does it feel like writing on paper?

very smart move

Interesting idea. I didn’t know about this at all. Do you know more about it? About people experience or if there is a particular brand that is really good at it?

Screen feels slippery to touch. The pen nib matters too. The original nib for the pen makes it feel like paper, it is a soft nib. I recently changed the nib because the original wore out. The replacement nib I bought were cheap, plasticky, not official nib and now it no longer have the paper feel.

In term of brand of screen protector I have no idea I haven’t tried any yet. some are quite expensive. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EEdbT_OscE I think with right pen nib/pen it should be more than enough. maybe such a pen/stylus is available for ipad too?

I noticed in reviews online that Colorsoft colors are much better looking than boox, it might be a better product for the color.

Came across this for ipad. Rock Paper Pencil v3 Screen protector and pen tip combo. the screen protecter seems to be magnetically removable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbZsVkZAlT4

Thanks for the link.
I randomly saw the paperlike screen protector yesterday without even looking for it, and it’s the same that you posted above.

I had two Apple Pencils in the past, I never considered going for another type of pencil if I’d buy another iPad. But if not, it’s worth considering other options.

I will gather info and decide if I really want to spend those money or go back to paper entirely, like I’m doing right now. I’m in the middle of this “idea”. Both worlds have pros and cons.

ohhh! I’m watching the second video right now, it’s not another pen, it’s a screen protector + a different tip for the Apple Pencil! Quite interesting actually! :+1:

Another update. I’ve watched a bunch of videos and it seems that there a few cons with those paperlike types of screenprotectors. They are more designed for illustrators, especially the magnetic ones, that are very good, but people don’t find them comfortable when reading, especially in low light. The pros is that they might give the best paper feeling though, especially the AstroPad.

Another solution that I have seen it’s the penTips nibs, apparently there are soft and hard versions, quite expensive, that could be a compromise.
Maybe I stick with real paper
We’ll see!

Very interesting, that would be a lot cheaper
But it’s not bad at all.

It’s very tough to figure this out because there are a lot of options, and those e-inks are not cheap at all, so the new iPad Air is a lot more versatile, but of course, it’s not the same thing.

I’m looking at the Supernote as well, but it’s black and white only, and probably the best writing experience, even better than reMarkable. But again, all these tools are not cheap at all.
