Hello,
I like YouTube and am just curious to hear who your favorite YouTubers are - - related to (any) language-learning. Please comment whatever you’d like - but I’d love to hear what you like or dislike about those YouTube channels - regarding learning style, etc.
Thanks!
Well I hope this helps but if you aren’t learning any of these languages, it probably won’t:
Spanish: Espanol con Juan
French: Francais authentique (with Johan), Inner French/Francais facile (with Hugo)
Polish: Polish with John (with Jan Oko)
Dutch: Een beetje nederlands (with Robin)
There are lots of channels that are not designed to be language learning channels per say that I use which I think are really good
Spanish: BBC Mundo, Stas Konstantinov (travel videoblog), ADN Opinion
French: Le Monde, TF1 Info
Dutch: History hustle nederlands, NOS op 3
Italian: Euronews (in Italiano)
For French I watch French channels that are factual and balanced, so they tend to be documentaries or discussions with experts in the field, such as Hugo Lisoir for space, and INA Société for cultural viewpoints. For German News in Slow German is a favourite, again it’s factual. I also like French films, preferably French made, but also dubbed into French.
I’ve watched some of the French videos in LingQ, and there’s a lot of typical YouTuber stuff e.g. someone young, talking in an excited manner, with a big ego, and lots of very partisan opinions. No thanks!
One problem I have with German is that I can’t tell if a channel for learners has authentic and correct German. One channel has voices that sound Irish. German speakers told me that they used a computer generated voice that spoke incredibly pure German with a burr that could sound Irish or American. Another channel has incorrect German.
YouTube is 90% junk, 5% good, and 5% fantastic content, or something like that.
