So my friend suggested that I could read comic books and/or graphic novels in order to support my learning and so I was wondering if any of you know any online resources for web-comics? This can be in literally any language so that anyone can benefit, either in your own language or in your target language. I’ve just downloaded one from Kindle called “Dragao da Tempest” or something like that in Portuguese and I’m looking for some in Arabic too. I’ve seen some YouTubers make vocalised slide-shows using comic book panel, which might be useful.
I’ve read some amateur Japanese web-comics on: comico.jp
There are tons of less legal resources as well of course.
I don’t know about other languages, but for Japanese I use an OCR-dictionary (kanjitomo) so that you just have to hover over the words to get the meaning.
I know translate webtoons has web comics in a load of languages. You don’t need an account to read them. There is a language selection drop down which shows what is translated into your target language.
“Garlic and the Vampire” by Bree Paulsen. She is a new author and has more coming out soon.
So on that note, I’ve just discovered an app called LingoZING, which supports learning languages through comic books and can be used to learn English, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. I’ve only been using it for a few hours, but so far, so good and I’m going to use it to supplement my LingQ learning: https://www.lingozing.com/
