Can you upload one of the files you were trying to import?

Hi there, it seems audio files cannot be uploaded. The link is this:

Thanks!

I also can’t upload new audio files. I’ve already ripped the mp3 from YouTube, I create the lesson, fill in the details and when I press ‘add’ it just does nothing. If I use the create lesson method with generate transcript then it just says unable to create lesson or something similar.

Edit: nevermind, nobody had mentioned that importing from YouTube was working again using the import extension, so I was wasting my time for weeks ripping mp3 files from YouTube. Nice one.

Well, actually that approach was a valid workaround and was what I was doing for weeks, before I started to create the transcript prior and using that with the audio file to create the lesson (mainly due to formatting reasons). So unless something has changed that approach may still work.

@berilo1 That’s not an audio file, it’s a youtube video. Youtube videos that don’t provide subtitles cannot be imported directly.

EDIT: I’ve downloaded and converted the file to mp3 and tried creating a lesson with it, but without success. It seems it is broken, but I get nor or just a lesson couldn’t be created error (whatever I am supposed to do with that info, as if I haven’t noticed that myself  ), depending on whether I use the create by audio option or create lesson and than add the audio there and try generating the transcript. I don’t know whether the file length plays a role, but in any case you may wanna try an external transcription tool.

@Obsttorte I know, as I wrote in my previous comment I cannot upload mp3 files. I did convert the video above into mp3 but when I tried to import the audio file, it does not generate a lesson. The file size is around 70 MB, so file size is not an issue. Maybe the video length is the issue, it last for about 1 hour and 20 min. I do not know.

What’s the bitrate? I’ve had problems with mp3 files when the bitrate is over 128kbps.

Sorry to hear you have issues with mp3 files upload. I asked our team to check if they can identify the problem.

Oh, I’ve misunderstood you,than.
@DaisyGwynne For the file I tried it’s 124kbps. I am able to upload audio files created in the same manner if I provide the transcript, so it appears the transcription is broken. I can give it another shot with a more “typical” bitrate, like 128kbps.

EDIT: Changing the bitrate gets me to the point where the import actually starts, at least. But after a while it is failing.

The bitrate is 128kbps

Does Lingq recommend a specific bit rate?

No, only file size limit

I have the same problem and it started within the last week, What’s odd is that sometimes it will let me upload a single mp3 file, but won’t let me upload any additional files that day. Sometimes if I try repeatedly to upload the same file (20 to 30 attempts) it will allow it to go through.

We are investigating the issue, thanks for your patience everyone.

I just uploaded 6 audio mp3 files in a row and they worked without any issue.

Did you upload them with or without transcription? With transcription isn’t an issue. And what language?

They are without subtitles, this is why I have converted them into mp3. Else I would have imported them normally using the browser plugin. They are in Spanish

The issue should be fixed now and importing of mp3 files should work properly again,
