Turkish, what does the ending -meye mean?

I found this sentence in one of the mini stories “## Aleyna işe gitmeye çalışıyor” and I often come across the ending -meye but I do not understand its function. Can some native or advanced speaker please explain

It is a kind of infinitive ending.
“Aleyna işe gitmeye çalışıyo” means “Aleyna is trying to go to work”
The difference between “-mek” and “-meye” is this:
“-mek” is simply the infinitive, as it appears in dictionaries.
“-meye” is the infinitive used to indicate the purpose of an action. So in this case: The purpose of walking is to get to work.
