Translation of “dabei”. Dabei must have more meanings than the dictionary itself. I am going to have ask about this word quite alot in the context it is used. Here is the sentence in queston: “Und dabei liebt Jürgen Schokolade.” It is used in this paragraph: Die Schokolade war alle. Wir hatten keine Schokolade mehr im Haus. Nicht ein Stückchen mehr. Und dabei liebt Jürgen Schokolade." I would say this sentence translates to English to mean: “And yet Jürgen loves chocolate.” or “And Jürgen loves it.” I do not know if this the meaning intended by the author. Am I close on this one??
This is a tricky one. Probably I would say in English: And what is more Jürgen loves chocolate.
