I’m finding the timestamps generated for transcriptions of audio that I’ve imported can often be way off. It is particularly noticeable in sentence mode. The clips often start some way into the sentence and keep going past the end of the text. This seems to compound to the point where the audio no longer bears any relation to the sentence being studied as you progress through the lesson.
Regenerating the timetamps seems to have no effect.
I wouldn’t mind fixing it manually if the interface for doing so made it simple and quick.
Is there anything anyone can recommend to help please?
Strongly agree with this, as auto time stamp will never be accurate so it is important to develop a very convenient timestamp editing features, example… Quick edit shortcuts or Button to nudge the timestamps, showing the waveform too, in sentence mode. So that language learning does not become harder.
On the web, I use Rooster lesson editor for my 1st extensive reading as it is much easier to edit timestamp there visually with the waveform and at the same time read there.
On my 2nd reading I use the normal lingQ sentence mode with the now perfect syncs, here I now do a more intensive reading to understand content more accurately.
Unfortunately for courses shared by others, rooster lesson editor doesn’t work for editing the timestamp. Shared lessons need to be QC better by linQ for timesync issues.
On the mobile app, On my first reading, I go into edit sentence mode to consume (extensively) lesson, so I can make edit to timestamps as I read. you can swipe to go to next sentence in that edit mode.
I have most of the time stamp editing, paging and playing audio mapped to a Bluetooth gamepad so I can do everything fairly fast.
Do note that once you are done editing a lot of sentence and finally click on Done, it take forever to save on the mobile app. Also when you switch out of lingQ it reset your edit sentence mode position. I have also encountered bugs where timestamps get messed up… sometimes…
