The Youtube caption editor is ROUGH

Wow. The repeated deleting ‘remove paragraph spacing’ to help try to construct simple sentences is painful. I think you should create something that overcomes autocaptions, rather than caters mainly to others going through and creating captions in that language. I’m happy to edit auto captions myself. But the old editor would have made that easy. I understand it’s trying hard to time stamp with what is being said in the Youtube. But wow, deleting a paragraph for every 4 words on a 25 minute news video. I’d be here editing it for about 2 hours at this rate. Why can’t i just insert the sentence breaks like the old editor?

(Also, I had no idea that by switching to beta, i’d LOSE functionality in the old LingQ. I’m still a paying member, and i’m donating my time to help the software, and now basically getting less until you make the upgrades.)

The new editor is driving me nuts as well, it’s impossible to make any edits bigger than adding a letter or removing a period or something. I opened a thread about this as well and it just seems like the new features demanded a new editor with this paragraph feature, which scares me to be honest if this is going to be the editor going forward, it’s not usable.

At the moment I’m using the legacy editor all the time, hopefully we can keep it around

Agreed… The new editor is a good idea with features for making more structured “lessons”, but for just trying to import text with some line breaks it is pretty rough right now :(.
