It is not like in German where eventuell means perhaps.

Is it only English where “eventually” means “in the end” or “in time”? It seems to mean “perhaps” in other European languages.

In Portuguese it indicates that something is possible:
Usa-se para indicar uma possibilidade (ex.: o problema é eventualmente maior do que parece). = TALVEZ
