I had the opportunity to camp with a group of Russian speaking relatives of my wife’s last week. It was a very natural setting in which Russian was spoken. I found I understood quite a bit and was able to join in the conversation often.
Naturally, I came away feeling elated. However, I also am fascinated by the often inexplicable way that the brain does in time adapt to a new language. It has taken a lot of time, study, and input to get to this level. But it is extremely satisfying.
I look forward to making more progress.
