I’ve searched a way to change the tts voice for the phone app and the browser (windows) but I couldn’t find one. The current tts Swedish voice is a female voice that is pretty terrible and robotic sounding in my opinion. It’s the same voice that Duolingo uses and I couldn’t stand it back then and I can’t either now.
Could you tell me if there is a way to install a better voice? If not, would you consider adding another one to the Swedish TTS options? I’ve found a male voice, called “microsoft Bengt” that sound way more human : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzt45oowxU4 (this is the only video I could find)
Please note that the mobile app will use TTS voice which is installed and set as default on your device. Check if you have Google TTS installed and set as default.
Which browser are you using?
Thank you for your reply!
Yes, my android does have the Google TTS installed and set as default. I can choose between Samsung TTS and Google TTS on it. So, for the mobile app I need to find a nice Swedish TTS voice from samsung or google and download it?
Anyway, I always use Google chrome on my laptop and I mostly use LingQ on my laptop, I think it’s better than the app (for example, on the app I can’t add translations that other members added in English and French, I only have the French option)
It think the mobile app will allow you to change it to one of your installed voices. I’ve done so on iOS with no issue.
As for browsers on the PC/MAC they don’t seem to support that for some reason even though we can download vastly improved TTS voices for those platforms. I would give anything to be able to change it on the desktop version with one of the better, high quality voices.
Hi again Zoran!
Do you have any news concerning the change of TTS? I think a lot of people would like to choose from different high quality ones or be able to import some (both male and female) and it would be a real improvment.
