Streamlining translation with better and more complete word meanings

So, one of the things that slows me down a lot when using LingQ, is finding all the possible meanings and uses of a word via dictionaries, online sources and/or chatgpt, cross-referencing them all, and then combining and formatting it in a way I like.

I know this is a lot but I like to get this done the first time rather that constantly adding to each LingQ. Also this is not for ever word, some are of course quite simple.

Although I do like the concept of the community generated meanings, these are very often not so great and sometimes just wrong.

What are some of the ways you all streamline this process? are there any addons, extensions or scripts that you use that do a good job?

That’s exactly what the add-on I made tried to deal with. It incorporates the features you want in the widget in the LingQ reader page. Before I developed it, I usually used Google Translate and LLMs like GPT or Gemini, and it was overhead in my study. After using it, I don’t need to use an external translator (and often a dictionary too).

Thanks, I did have a look at this but didn’t quite get what it did in this regard. Does it essentially just add a chatgpt window into the LingQ interface where you have to ask it to translate the word? Or is there something I’m missing?

Basically right.
But the unique feature is that it automatically provides the meaning or translation of the word or sentence in a structured output, considering the context (the sentence containing the selected word). Of course, you can continue that chat from there.
Just try it, you can understand right away.

Thanks. I’ll have a look, although I think it’s not quite what I’m looking for.
