Ah, thanks, I didn’t know there was a new option. I actually checked the update notes and was already wondering why there was nothing about audio.
I use LingQ only on my iPad. I’ll check the setting.
As the Apple TTS for Japanese is actually pretty good (e.g. it includes pitch accent) I don’t mind a change, I didn’t recognize an improvement for single words anyway.
The best TTS would be the one from Microsoft Azure by the way. That is really next level (for German it even has a very slight Austrian and Swiss accent as option) but I doubt that it would make a difference for single words.
With local TTS everything is fine now, yeah! Every 15-20th word or so the bubble hangs for half a second but the audio is still played. I can live with that.
Feels really good to be back on my old reading speed. I just realized how much I slowed down to compensate the problems of the app. I also can concentrate now much more on the text. In the last weeks the app behaviour was immensly distracting from the content itself.
Thanks again for the tipp! And big thanks to the developers to integrate that feature!
Finally I can enjoy the v5 update. I like a lot of stuff like the much better streak system, sorting the entries by newest, better UI/UX etc but the audio problem ruined everything for me.
