Should I ask the author or is it enough just to give a reference?

Sorry if this question was already discussed.

May I create a lesson reading a text from a newspaper or journal? I mean, I will say who the author is and where is the text from.

Is it allowed on LongQ? Should I ask the author or is it enough just to give a reference?

@Ress - You will probably be best off checking their site to see whether the content is copyrighted. If the content is copyrighted then it may be a good idea to contact the site/organization and ask for permission to upload the lessons on LingQ.

@alex - to upload publicly right? Private uploads are fine for copyrighted materials

Usually newspaper articles are copyrighted. Sometimes they are under a CC-License. Unfortunately this is often a “No-commercial” license, and we cannot use it on LingQ. To ask for permission is the best way. Good luck.

Thank you all for your answers.

@spatterson - Yes, of course  You’re free to import and study anything privately, though only copyright free content or content used with permission should be shared in the Library.
