Request to Restore Manual Text Editing Function After YouTube Import

Dear LingQ Team,

I’ve encountered a frustrating issue when importing YouTube content into LingQ. Previously, after importing, I was able to manually edit the transcript using the “Edit” button. However, this function has now been replaced with “Regenerate”, which removes my ability to clean up or restructure the imported text.

As you may know, YouTube subtitles often contain formatting errors, poor punctuation, and line breaks that make reading and learning inefficient. I used to rely on the manual editing feature to correct and reorganize the text, sometimes even using AI tools before reinserting the improved version back into LingQ.

I respectfully request that you restore the “Edit” function or at least allow manual editing again after importing content. The current restriction severely affects the quality of the learning experience.

Thank you for considering this feedback.
Looking forward to a positive update.

Sincerely,
David

Has the feature to manually edit text been removed, not just for content imported from YouTube?
I hope this is just a mistake, because I rely on this feature for almost all the lessons I import myself, so it would be a big problem if it’s gone.

@yu114813532 You are still actually able to edit lessons on your end, both text and timestamps. Nothing has changed there, including YouTube imports. If you click on the regenerate text button you will then see plain lesson text where you can make changes and re-save a lesson. Please give it another try.

当我点击重新生成的时候,并看不到像过去一样的纯文本了,现在只是重新生成课程,无法自己编辑完成的课程然后重新粘贴进去了

When I click regenerate, I no longer see plain text like before. Now it just regenerates the lesson, and I can’t edit the completed lesson myself and then paste it back in

Thanks. I will investigate this and report to our team.

zoran, I mentioned the issue on another thread.

Regenerate lesson in Edit Lesson section is just giving a “generating content” message and then just dropping you back into the same “edit lesson” view.

There is a new “regenerate lesson (AI)” option in the 3 dot menu of the “reader view”, which appears to be doing the exact same thing (no explanation of what it is doing). I assume this is a new functionality, but that it’s now also been tied into the “edit lesson” view and has killed the ability to mass edit the lesson as a big text field like before. Definitely want that back! and some explanation of this new option in the 3 dot menu on what it’s suppose to be doing.
