Since I use LingQ as E-Reader for books and newspaper articles in my non-native languages I am just wondering why doesn’t it provide the basic E-Reader functionalities like embedding of pictures, footnotes, table of contents, searching in the text etc. These are common basic features in all E-Readers, so why not integrate it in LingQ? Is it a problem of technology or are there any hidden caveats?
Totally agree. Formatting of titles and making notes accessible would be appreciated as well.
I understand that the team’s focus in mainly on AI features at the moment, but many of us use Lingq the traditional way, so it would be nice to see improvements on that front as well.
I think so. I don’t like the way of lingq importing Ebook. especially arbitrary dividing chapter and image showing.
Agreed. I would like there to be an option for a reader-friendly format if you don’t need to look up too many words.
Full e-book compatibility would be a wonderful enhancement to LingQ. (And is it really that hard, technically? There are open-source solutions.)
Integrating pictures would make childrens’ books and graphic novels more engaging. This would allow us to learn more.
I have an e-book of Winnie-the-Pooh in the language I am working on and I prefer to read it outside of LingQ because I want to experience it with the pictures – for the joy of it. We are missing the joy offered by the world’s best illustrated books.
Cultivating joy nourishes motivation. Picture-books → Joy → Fluency.
I have some lessons where there are pictures, so it’s possible now.
Thank you for correcting our understanding, @nicholasm223344
I am grateful that LingQ can handle pictures in an epub. Is there a way to have them better formatted?
Here is an example of a picture + text from an epub in LingQ:
Here is a picture of the same content from an e-reader:
