I want to get stuck into audiobooks soon in French. Does anyone have any advice on how to get started? I don’t really want to get started on something and stop shortly due to lack of interest. But at the same time, I’m willing to put up with some uninteresting content if the book is something very popular or topical for francophones at the moment. Is there anything anyone would recommend that they have recently read or are currently reading? I might be able to find it on the internet. I noticed that Helen has a number of great links to audiobook websites on her blog. If I can’t find anything of interest, I’ll probably just read Les Misérables, as it’s already on LingQ. However, I’d prefer to start with something more contemporary. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

I would go for the classics, like Balzac, where the texts are available on the Internet at Gutenberg. As to the audio books themselves, I have bought Audio books from Livraphone and found them excellent. You may find some free books but I very much recommend going for well done professional audio books. You can even download from their website. In fact we could probably put up a few chapters of some of their books together with texts in our Library.

Tu peux visiter le site Evene (le lien est sur le document–revues en ligne–). Dans la section livre, tu y trouveras le top des ventes de livres en France ces dernières semaines.
Dans le document, tu trouveras également d’autres sites utiles.
Jette aussi un oeil sur le menu principal. J’espère que cela t’aidera dans ton apprentissage du français. De temps en temps, je mettrai à jour ces documents…

I basically ended up using “free” audio books on LingQ (mostly from Librivox, probably). These days I pretty much just read from my 3000 French books torrent (which is available on the internet), and then I import the texts into LingQ to save new words.
3000 French books? I think that must be the same torrent I’ve got…Race you to the finish! 
I’ve also got the 5000 Spanish books one!
No intention of getting “to the finish” but it’s good to have a little library to pick from when in need…
I’ve found quite a few German books too…
