Problem importing lesson from youtube using web import function

Hi,

Im getting the following error when trying to import a lesson from youtube using the LingQ web importer. It used to take just a few seconds, but now its telling me to wait. The lesson appears to be stuck in ‘pending lessons’ which cant be opened.

Thanks for any suggestions,

There was a change made last year in regards to autogen/subless Youtube videos and the LingQ importer.

These videos are now transcribed with Whisper (Which can take some time, depending on length of the video/other server factors).

There is no option to turn this off for autogen subtitles. If you require a fast import some workarounds would be to download the subs yourself or you could check out the web extensions forum post for other import options

In some cases it can take some time for process to complete. Take another look now if lessons got imported properly.

This is the same problem I’m facing. Before it was a matter of short time. Now waiting doesn’t help for me. After waiting for long time, Lingq itself will prompt to delete the lesson and try again. I was never able to use this function lately.

I hope Lingq will solve the problem, anyway does Rooster allow to do the same even when Lingq importing fails generating a lesson?

If the Youtube video has available captions the Rooster tool can import them. If not it follows the same process as LingQ and will fail if the transcribe does
