I really would take a Far-Leftist like Bernie, Kamila Harris or Elizabeth Warren as a more serious candidate for 2020. North Americans have been completely brainwashed into thinking that more government is good and unfortunately will only wake up after they’ve gone through full-on Marxism.
The language does vary a bit but it’s not too hard to read those authors. The biggest problem is that I find classical literature incredibly boring and much prefer Soviet literature which also furthers my knowledge of the worst ideology of all time. I probably will hit a wall in my known words count at some point.
Yeah, it’s the same here. People were laughing at Corbyn before our last election, but they’re not laughing anymore :-0
(It’s still far from certain that he’ll win next time - but it’s no longer unthinkable by any means.)
@Aydin_ Reading C&P at the moment. Started at around 41k known words (B2). The only parts that are a bit dense are when someone or something is introduced and he describes in detail the whole appearance and impression of it. Once he’s done introducing characters or establishing the scene the plot and dialogue have me flowing along quite fast. Also the verbose drunk monologues of Marmeladov in the beginning are more dense. By chapter 3 and 4 now I’m definitetely up to speed and only rarely have to stop the audio to catch up.
@jaliscostate Do you know Jordan Peterson? If you’re interested in analyzing the worst ideology of all time, Peterson and Dostoyevsky are next-level, meta-analysis deep genius. The way I got really turned on to tackle Dostoyevsky was because Peterson mentions him at every chance, saying how he predicted the Soviet fiasco and 20th century developements like a boss. Half of the time he mentions it in connection with the Gulag Archipelago and how it plays out exactly what FMD presaw.
Dostoyevsky started to stand out even more to me, because about a third of the interesting-genius thinkers I don’t mind reading and listening to online mentioned him either as one of their favorites or mentioned him in very positive terms, namely Jordan Peterson, Stefan Molyneux, Alexander Arguelles, Roosh V and Steve Kaufmann.

@TommyTrue
Yes, Jordan Peterson is such a great man. It’s strange to say that but his knowledge of the English language is ridiculous. You can tell that he reads tons just by the way he speaks )))
Yup. Canada, the UK and the USA are one and the same. For the best and for the worst
I am hoping to see Jacob Rees-Mogg as your PM rather soon.
As a Tory party member I actually have a vote for the leadership too. If there were a vacancy, and if the Mogg decided to stand (he hasn’t said he would) I would be very likely vote for him.
On the subject of Senate candidates having a rapper feud over president former games show host:
Idiocracy full movie
What I find interesting is the relatively low level of PC in that movie, on top of the controversial subject matter. Leaving aside that it assumes that IQ is valid and highly inheritable, which remain facts largely denied, evaded or fought in mainstream consciousness and social “sciences”, it seems to not go out of its way to at least appease the racial aspect to this, which is even more marginalized.
Released in 2006 (!), the movie features a black rapper type President. Also the rapper/pimp culture theme and the “inner city” influence on the degraded speech are clear in their implication.
Usually in materials that satirise uncomfortable truths, be it stand-up or fiction, I’m used to a certain level of PC appeasement to further soften the satire and camouflage the truthful critique.
I can’t help but think that if this movie would have been made more recently, they would have made the president a white southern redneck type, as well as trying to avoid or minimize any emphasis on “inner city” and rap related references, instead emphasizing the southern redneck theme.
Watcha fink y’all?
