I would recommend Anderson Cooper 360° Daily, Larry King Live,
weekly podcasts without transcript: Wait.Wait Don’t tell me, Real Time Bill Maher, Moth, New Yorker.

Are these of any use?

I haven’t used them myself (cos I’m not learning English) but the BBC World Service is where I’d start for anything to do with the outside world.
