I installed NPR Music as well as NPR News on my iPhone. They are applications for iOS. I listened to a speech by Bruce Springsteen and an interview with Doris Day. I enjoyed them very much.
Doris Day was born in 1922, and Bruce Springsteen was born in 1949.
You would probably enjoy the program Fresh Air.
A New Box Set Holds A Springsteen Holy Grail
I cannot explain why, but Bruce Springsteen’s song made my eyes moist with tears.
Old people are easily moved to tears.
“They bring you up to do like your daddy done”
“And for my nineteenth birthday I got a union card and a wedding coat”
“I got a job working construction for the Johnstown Company
But lately there ain’t been much work on account of the economy
Now all them things that seemed so important
Well mister they vanished right into the air
Now I just act like I don’t remember
Mary acts like she don’t care”
"Is a dream a lie if it don’t come true
Or is it something worse "

Yutaka, thank you for making this link available. I knew nothing about this performance of The River before you posted the link to it. It’s an extraordinary performance - human, vulnerable, but also very serious and even, in a strange way, unnerving.
Thank your for your comment. I found that Bruce Springsteen, who is noted for songs about working-class life in the US, was borne in 1949.
