I am unable to delete items in my timeline.
I am also unable to delete posts on my profile page.
Sorry, but I ask myself: did you really TEST the new system?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to change lingq status from 1 to 2, 3, 4?
If I search the (French) library with “Library” dark (activated) and “Show Lessons” checked, and with NO other check boxes checked, I receive only 6 result pages.
That’s everything? Should be more than 100 pages!
If I check now ONLY “New”, I receive 10 result pages.
If I check now ONLY “Beginner 1”, I receive 5 result pages.
If I check now ONLY “Beginner 2”, I also receive 5 result pages.
If I check now ONLY “1-5% New Words”, I don’t receive any results.
If I check now ONLY “Shared”, I see my shared lessons, but ALSO my CHINESE lessons. (Current language: French!)
There seems to be absolutely NO logic behind the selection of search results.
I also see quite often Google Chrome’s crash page “Oh no! …” with a sad tab.
We tested the site with a Beta user group for quite a while, but unfortunately the real operating environment is different from the test environment. We will be working to fix things as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I cannot find the volume control of LingQ’s audio player, so I have to adjust the volume with the computer’s volume control?
I regret these problems very much and apologize. I personally, as well as our staff, used the new version for over 3 months on our testing server. We had a Beta group of users for over a month, and yet the real environment has created problems. I am confident that if you liked the old version, you will like the new version even better. However, we first have to resolve these problems, and deal with issues raised by our members.
This morning I worked on two lessons, and I was quite impressed by the new system. I liked it a lot! LingQ-ing is much faster now, given that the system reacts fast. The problem is that in most cases the system reacted quite slow this morning. I hope that you’ll able to fix that.
“… but unfortunately the real operating environment is different from the test environment …”
If this is the case, the whole “testing” was worthless…
No the testing was not useless. It enabled us to fix a lot of problems. Now in the real environment we are encountering some new problems which we hope to fix as soon as possible. We appreciate everyone’s patience and in the end I think the present difficulties will be worth it.
The “stars rating” of a lesson does not exist anymore. Is there a reason for that?
We felt that this was not all that meaningful. It was not clear that 3 stars, for example, was a good grade or not. We think it will be more effective to have users either “like” a lesson or not. If they “like” the lesson, give it a rose, (note that roses are now free), this will make this lesson move to the top of the recommended list. This means that lessons that are liked by many users will become more visible to other users.
I think this will become more useful as we work out the present slate of bugs, as more people use the system and people start giving roses to lessons.
Hi, is this the official error log thread? Create one ‘official Linq 2.0 known errors in here’ or similar topic so users know where they will be heard and site staff knows where to read.
Thanks sperini for your comments and for reporting these bugs.
We are reading all comments regarding errors and problems. We are well aware of the slowness issue and will resolve it.
Thanks Steve. I agree. Liking lessons or not is better than a “star” rating.
Some more bugs that I just encountered:
The audio on the flashcards does not work.
I see sometimes “Error 500” when looking at profiles.
One thing which I hope there will be a work around for is that in the old LingQ I used to ‘zoom in’ on the lesson pages quite a bit to make the words much much larger (better on the eyes after a long day). This worked like a dream on the old version, but now with the fixed width of the lesson tab it’s getting wider itself which is making the whole page get wider, which means the ‘controls’ for the lesson move away to the right and off the screen. (sorry if I’ve not explained this well!). It was nice before how you could have very large text, and still the play/stop/lingqs on the right. Hopefully a tweak here or there can allow this sort of setup again.
The ability to minimise the ‘controls’ on the right is useful, I find myself doing this every time whilst I focus on the text.
All in all I like what I see though, and don’t worry, I work in software myself and know all too well how you can test something for weeks and months, but when it comes to a real world environment, a million bugs suddenly appear!
(Chrome/Mac) - on my lessons page clicking ‘Open’ on a lesson doesn’t do anything, it seems to just reload the same page. [However - clicking on the name of the lesson works and takes you to the lesson page]
Speed is a serious issue. LingQ was never the fastest site out there, but unfortuntately what were 2 or 3 second delays, are now 10-15 second delays.
(Chrome/Mac) Moving over a blue word in a lesson doesn’t do anything, it should bring up the box about the word.
It’s probably more helpful for you guys if I keep using Chrome(Mac) to find all these teething problems. But I’m now going to switch to Firefox to see how that fares.
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. We’re reading all your comments and are carefully keeping track of all the bugs that are being reported. Thank you for your patience as we sort through things!
I don’t seem to be able to get beyond the welcome page
It takes around 2 minutes for my page to load
Nothing along the top panel works for me from the start page (change language button doesn’t do anything, learn, friends, teach, tasks) I can only get them to function when I go into my profile first and go from there.
I think that’s all of the problems that have popped up so far but really like the new clean cut look.
It seems the “Edit” button no longer works on the forum, so I’ll add a brief note here.
On IE 9 LingQ works just as poorly for me as on Chrome (both on Windows 7). I won’t bother w/ another browser at this point.
My two main problems are with viewing/auditing lessons:
the sound playing facilities do not appear on the screen, so the lesson cannot be listened to while reading the text;
the flaschcard interface does not work at all–no popups or anything else.
Also, if the lesson text no longer shapes itself to the screen when text size is increased, as some have reported (I cannot get far enough to find out), the lessons will be pretty much unusable for me.
If the lessons become usable, I’ll post to let the technical staff know. Until then I’ll stop adding noise to this thread.
