I gave blood today, in England, and I asked the nurse if she had seen The Blood Doner, a famous British comedy sketch by Tony Hancock. She said “No, I am German, I don’t like comedy”. I smiled. A friend is Austrian, and he has a good sense of humour, and I know the French like comedy.
And as an aside, she spoke beautiful English, the only non native feature was an inability to pronounce the th sounds. Otherwise I would have taken her for English.
