Monthly Audio Transcript Limit

They introduced the cap without informing people, I doubt that asking for a raise would work

yesterday and today, when tried to transcribe 2 files (both below 10 minutes) i did not get a full transcription, a minute or so was missing. and no, I did not reach the limit, simply the transcriptions are undone.
i suspect there is a cap on what has already been capped

The 10h limit only applies to audio only, right? So, podcasts and other mp3 files that have to be whispered to get the text? I have already hit the limit this month but can import YouTube videos just fine. I guess this is because with YT the LingQ extension is grabbing the text as well, so no extra work, therefore no monthly limit

That being the case I can easily manage the 10h per month of podcast material. This is not so much of an issue for me any more.

after having hit the limit last month, I tried the same but the imported YT videos did not get transcribed. Can you please confirm your video have been transcribed? it seems strange the limit only apply to mp3 files and not videos…Thanks

Yes, I tried with YT videos in 3 languages with no problems - transcriptions are there in full.

Note - there are separate forum threads on the LingQ importer not working, so you may need to update your browser extension. This importer bug started for me at about the same time as the audio limit as reached (a few days ago), so I thought they were the same thing. That seems to have been a coincidence though; after updating the importer extension my YT importing works just fine, although the audio-only 10h limit is still preventing me importing non-YT podcasts.

can you pls confirm the 10 hours limit applies only to audio transcript and not YT imports? Thanks

The limit applies to any audio transcription. In the case of Youtube imports we don’t transcribe them so they should not be affected. There have been some Youtube import issues lately as we try to work around changes they have made. All extensions have been updated although the Chrome extension is still pending approval by their extension team so should be available once approved some time over the next few days.

I am currently not able to import anything from YouTube at all. This is a huge handicap whatever is causing it. I sure hope YouTube imports aren’t limited to 10 hours and that it’s some other issue to be fixed soon. YouTube imports probably has been accounting for about 75% of how I use Lingq…

Mark has confirmed that YouTube imports aren’t affected by the 10-hour limit, since LingQ does not transcribe them. The problem is with the LingQ importer extension not working due to changes made in YT. I updated mine in Firefox (to version 2.3.5) and YT imports now work perfectly.

I pretty much exclusively use my android cell phone while I am on the run. Everything is updated to current and all YT imports say “Submitted file is empty”. I tried doing it from my chrome app as well and it does the same thing.

I don’t use my computer because clicking through lingq feels so much slower.

We were having issues with YT import. The updated extensions should work now.
