If you’re using OpenAI’s API why use whisper instead of the newer gpt 4o mini transcribe? It’s the exact same price with FAR better word error rates. Would be a game changer for mandarin and many other languages LingQ offers

We are in the process of doing just that for certain languages, but that comes with its own set of challenges since it doesn’t provide timestamps like whisper does
Ahh I see. Not having timestamps is quite unfortunate since I assume that would mean no sentence mode. Transcribing the audiobooks for imagin8’s journey to the west series and using sentence mode has been a game changer for my Chinese reading.
We think we can generate timestamps the way we used to so are working on a combined solution. We’ll see how it goes.
So if we go to a youtube video and then use the chrome extension to upload it to lingq that counts towards the 10 hours? Thanks.
