In the mobile app (Android) I often want to take a passage to another app to get more insight.
Issue 1: Sometimes, when I highlight a multi-word passage, I get a system context menu that will let me Translate, Copy, Share, Select All. But other times, it immediately opens the LingQ edit popup.
Issue 2: The LingQ popup has buttons to let me: play audio, ignore the passage, mark the passage as known, open one of the configured companion apps, or assign one of the suggested meanings. But it doesn’t have a button that lets me copy the phrase to the buffer, which is what I was trying to do in the first place.
The only workaround is that I can now select the text a second time (this time from the header in the popup) and this time the system context menu will appear, allowing me to Copy the selected text. (But note that the text in the header has been forced to lower case, so it isn’t exactly the same as the text I was originally trying to investigate.)
This workflow presents me with three problems that I’ll now ask about.
-
Is there something I can do to ensure that I always get the system context menu when I select multiple words?
-
If not, can we add a Copy button to the LingQ popup so I don’t have to select everything again?
-
Is there a way that I can add other apps to the LingQ popup in addition to Google Translate and the dictionary apps, so I don’t have to manually copy at all.
