It’s hard not to notice the thick American accent from the Mini Stories in German. In Spanish the pronunciation is pretty fair, but the German one sounds like an American really trying his best to speak fast and keep all the hard “r’s” away. Are there any easy (beginner 1-2) courses with actually native pronunciation? This thing is hard to listen to…
Which Mini Stories are you listening to? I just listened to four random ones, and of them two seemed to have native speakers and the other two could have been native speakers or a non-native speakers without strong accents. It could be you’re just in a patch with non-native speakers and if you keep going, you’ll get to more content from native speakers.

Which stories? I checked out 5, 13 and 24 and they’re all native speakers.
I know that one of the mini stories in German the guy recording starts laughing hysterically. I forget which lessons it was. it makes me laugh every time.

That’s the one where the character is going to buy some shoes and the narrator laughs at the high price and even ad libs a little about it. Makes me smile every time.

Ich finde es SEHR WICHTIG, dass nur Audios von Muttersprachlern verwendet werden, vor allem am Anfang.!!
Es kann aber auch sein, dass Dich die Sprachmelodie verunsichert. Ob der Sprecher aus Österreich, der Schweiz oder aus Deutschland kommt. Der Text ist zwar Hochdeutsch oder Schriftdeutsch, wie wir sagen, aber die Betonung, der Akzent, die Sprachmelodie ist sehr unterschiedlich.

I think he’s just saying it a bit oddly. He does seem to be a native speaker, though. I’m not sure if it’s a regional accent or just a case of him misspeaking a bit.
I listened to Lesson 7 and while he has a slight regional accent, he is definitely saying “einmal” with an L. The tounge is pushed further back into the mouth giving the L in “mal” that distinctive sound. This is not to be confused with an R (voiced alveolar approximant), which he does not use in that lesson.
So while it’s not a perfectly “standard” German accent, it’s standard enough to be perfectly useful.

Yes I would guess he’s from Austria. But 100 percent a native. “Noch einmal” is often pronounced as “noch amal” or “noch amol”. Usually we just use “nochmal”.

Do you mean Story 7? I listened to it. He is a native speaker with a light accent. He is from Southgermany or Austria.
