meelopen
one alternative synonym I have found for ‘meelopen’ is ‘gelukken.’
I wonder if that is the meaning in the following:
Het is hem allemaal meegelopen.
full context:
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=bks&q=“het+is+hem+allemaal+meegelopen”
Is this a common expression? Is it much the same as “Het is hem allemaal gelukt”?
Does it mean it all went as planned, it all went according to schedule; it all went like clockwork, or something to that effect? Meelopen seems to carry some sort of figurative meaning related to time.
And:
Maar wie weet, loopt het nog mee!
full context:
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=bks&q=“loopt+het+nog+mee”
This seems to have a similar meaning, but it’s hard for me to grasp.
Again, is this a common expression? Does this mean, but who knows? maybe it will go by quickly?
The only definition I could find for ‘meelopen’ seems to be a literal one:
samen met iemand anders een afstand lopend afleggen
(go walking a distance together with someone else)
Ik loop wel even met je mee naar de parkeergarage.
I’ll walk you to the parking building.
When I get stuck on expressions like this, I feel like it is taking me backwards
