The whole sentence is “… du chat écrasé à l’avion que tombe…”, I believe, ie they are discussing everything: from a cat which was run over to a plane that crashed.

It means in the context that when we are on duty we could be confronted to a great deal of issues, ranging from minor incidents ( squashed cats) to serious problems (plane crashes).
