September was mostly about polish: Lynx got a proper chat history and more control in settings, the updated Book Challenge opened up to everyone, and we made a lot of fixes to imports and Japanese.
Web
-
Delete Lynx chats. Your Lynx chats now have their own history section in the sidebar, so it’s easier to find an old conversation and you can now delete chats on web, the same as on Android.
-
More Lynx settings. There’s a new Lynx section in Settings. Along with the memory option, you can now turn off Lynx’s comment on the lesson complete page if you’d rather not see it.
-
Smarter Lynx. Improved suggested prompts related to the lesson you’re studying. Images Lynx creates are more on-topic, and Lynx no longer asks extra questions before creating a lesson for you.
-
Updated Book Challenge for everyone. The new Book Challenge is now available to all users. Adding a book is simpler, and the rankings now count every book you’re reading correctly.
-
Page review improvements. Vocabulary review at the end of a page now respects your review limit and repeats words the way other reviews do.
-
Cleaner imports. Books and PDFs now handle inline footnotes and page numbers better. Dialogue with missing punctuation is formatted properly. Ebook chapters split into parts get consistent lesson titles.
-
Japanese improvements. Japanese word splitting and readings are more accurate. Imported Japanese text with inline furigana now comes out clean.
-
We fixed a range of reported bugs. Thank you to all of you who reported them.
iOS
-
Lynx on the lesson complete screen. Lynx’s comment now works like the chat. Words are highlighted, you can tap a word to open it in the floating widget, translations show by default, and you can reply in the chat box.
-
We fixed a range of issues, including:
-
Lessons downloaded for offline use had no sentence translations after the first 20 sentences.
-
Sentence Review showed the wrong sentence in lessons with images.
-
Android
-
Archive your content. You can now archive lessons and courses you’re finished with on Android, the same as on web.
-
Redesigned import options. The import options dialog has a cleaner, clearer design.
-
Easier plan changes. The Manage Subscription and Change Plan screen has been redesigned to make switching plans simpler.
-
More Lynx settings. You can now also turn off Lynx’s comment on the lesson complete screen.
-
Listening stats for sentence audio. Listening to generated sentence audio now counts toward your listening stats.
-
Fixed Japanese speaking correction. Kanji and Kana writing now interchangeable when inputting text.
-
We fixed a range of issues, including:
-
Transliteration only showed for some words in a phrase.
-
External lesson imports sometimes failed on the second try.
-
Book Challenge showed the wrong completion percentage.
-
YouTube links in notifications didn’t open.
-
As always we look forward to your feedback!
