Lost Streak, 85,000 Coins is Not Enough to Repair?

Why does this even happen? It seems to happen every time I lose my streak (3 times now), that the coins I have accumulated are “not enough to repair my streak.” Also, I spent 3 hrs. on LingQ yesterday, though I guess I was editing an imported video primarily and I guess that doesn’t count?

Hmmm, so I can’t repair my streak from my profile page, where it clearly has a “Repair Streak” button, but just now, clicking another page (sorry, already forgot which one), a pop-up window popped up to “Repair My Streak”, I clicked on it, and it looks like that worked. So I no longer seem to need help (we shall see), but perhaps y’all could fix that option on the profile page.

I would rather have the coins than the streak :joy:

There is a repair streak button when you click on the “flame” icon up top.

Thanks, we will look into that.

Yes, I have the same question — I don’t even know how many coins I have (where can we find that?), but when I broke my streak a few days ago LingQ didn’t even ask me if I wanted to repair it, which I would have. (I didn’t remember LingQ had this until right now.)

Click on your profile picture (in the website version), and then click on Profile, and you can see all kinds of stats about your daily, weekly, and all-time accomplishments. The little circle to the left of the language icon (tot he left of of your profile pic) also shows your coins, in a way. If you haven’t hit your daily goal yet, the outer circle won’t be completely filled in; if you have exceeded your minimum goal, the number inside the circle will show by how many times you’ve exceeded your goal.

Hope that helps. I’m still figuring out how the whole system works myself. I can’t help out too much with the phone or tablet apps, though, as I still have questions myself about those.

It’s been mentioned some time ago that the only thing that maintains your streak is the LingQs created - whatever your daily goal is. I don’t remember how old that post was but from what I’ve seen I can confirm this is exactly how it works.

OK, I got curious about this and checked the Support pages, where it says this (and more):

"How do you earn Coins?
You earn Coins for all the learning activity you do on LingQ (besides writing submissions & tutor conversations). Here is a breakdown:

  • Creating LingQs: 1-4 Coins per LingQ
  • Adding Known Words: 5-20 Coins depending on the value of the word)
  • Increasing the status of LingQs: 1-4 Coins per status increase depending on the value of the word)You can increase the status of a LingQ manually or by getting the word correct twice in a row during vocab review exercises

:camera:

  • Reading: 1 Coin for every 10 words of reading.
  • Listening: 100 Coins for every hour of listening you do, either in the Reader or in Playlists (manually added Listening will not earn you Coins). So 3 minutes of listening will earn you 5 Coins.

Oh, I know you can earn coins in a multiple ways. I meant just maintaining the daily streak! Here’s the post I was referring to, but like I said it’s pretty old and things might’ve changed since then - What Do We Have To Do To Maintain A Streak On Lingq? - La....

However from my experience, there were times when I’ve surpassed the daily goals considerably but without creating any LingQs and my streak was broken, so it seems to still be working the same way as how old that post is.

Is there a way to check how many coins I actually have? I had this issue (not being able to repair a streak) today, and would like to repair it but it says I don’t have enough coins. Total cumulative in Russian is ~80,000, and I don’t think I’ve repaired my streak 10+ times but I guess it’s possible.

The amount of available coins can be seen in mobile apps.
On the Statistics screen, you can tap the “All time” option and observe the available coins amount.
