Im looking for someone to study polish with. Not necessarily doing exercises together but just discussing our progress, challenges and language learning techniques and tips. Someone to help with motivation and to sympathize with.
Im still A1 (i think) but very dedicated. My partner speaks polish and now our two kids are much better than me at polish. So I need to catch up. My first language is swedish. I try to follow the immersion methods, reading and listening a lot and using LingQ. sometimes i use anki but not much anymore.
Whilst I may not be reliably available for your request, I do sympathise with you. It’s a tough language. Moja dziewczyną tez z Polski. I’m an English speaker and have been learning for about 6 months.
Using an online tutor accelerated my learning, but I find that generally tutors want to teach the old fashioned way which I find ruins my passion for the language after a while - grammar and textbooks aren’t fun! Not sure if I’ll go back to my tutor, but having a regular lesson did keep me accountable.
I’d also suggest that you implement learning at home in a big way. So far, my partner has generally not spoken in Polish much with me. She habitually uses English and I have to constantly remind her, so I’ve had to become a bit militant about it and now refuse to speak to her in English some days (to her immense frustration).
I tried Anki but found it a bit boring. Also, I struggle to engage with screens. I’ve also tried goldlist method, but keep forgetting to review. Poor self discipline… I’m considering going back to old fashioned paper flashcards as I think I’ll learn better that way.
Anyway, good luck. Sounds like you’re gonna be fine!
