He is right, lingq is a tool not a method. That’s why they added those ‘activities’ and start recommending using a textbook at the beginning. Haha everytime it doesn’t do what it promised they just say add… Xd Don’t get me wrong I use lingq
You don’t know him, he knows every study about languages, also why he doesn’t show you anything is because if he does you shouldn’t buy it anymore.
Sorry, I have been away from LingQ for a few days. I read the articles you referenced, and the evidence is rather convincing. You very well could be right. Just because the vast majority of schools still teach this, and quite honestly in many of their applications reference that they wish for teachers to teach with these “styles” included in their curriculum doesn’t make it right. Thank you for providing the material. I can’t say that it is right or wrong, but the evidence certainly supports what you said.
So…you should buy it before you know what you get?! How do you back up his claim to be that proficient in those languages? Did he prove it anywhere? In addition studying a language is a very delicate, very individual matter… Have you bought anything from him? Did it help you? Can you share you experience with us? What is it you benefited the most off?
You are completely right t_harangi. I can tell from my own experience that learning a language from scratch only on Lingq will give good results but may not be the quickest way. I would have made much faster progress if I had supplemented it with more grammar explanations and writing practice. Additionally, moving to native texts too quickly also hampers progress but it is simply so boring to keep reading graded texts for a year or more, not to mention that for some languages like in my case Czech there is not enough content. After two years of Czech study I still find it hard to write my own texts as I have never practiced it.
On the other hand, with B2-C1 languages Lingq is just a pure pleasure and I don’t need to review grammar anymore, because it will be refined just by reading.
Check out an app called HelloTalk. It is free, and you can converse with as many or few people as you want in Czech. After a couple of messages, you can ask them for information where to find some interesting content. Also, you make new frienda, and can practice practically nonstop on your target language.
