Lingq Statistics page

The new profile statistics page has become worse.
Now I need an additional click to see trends, and it’s not possible to switch between languages within the page to compare trends. Bring back the trends on the main profile page and the dropout list of languages for the trends.

For me all the numerical values that the profile page shows now have low value - they’re just data points without context. It’s secondary information and does not help me spend more time reading and Lingqing.

Indeed.

Why do LingQ users look at the statistics page? I’d say most of us want to track our progress. Which statistics we consider more or less relevant will differ, which timeframe we look at will differ.

The previous statistics page was nicely structured and most of all practical and convenient. All relevant information was right there and quickly accessible according to one’s individual preferences.

With the new profile statistics page this is unfortunately not the case any more. Getting used to something new isn’t the issue here. It’s just less practical.

Furthermore, ‘Stats’ are unnecessarily duplicated in the ‘Detailed Stats’ right below and the graphs. Once I click on ‘Last 7 days’ some very same statistics are even shown 3 times on the same page. So if someone claims that the new version would be easier to grasp for beginners… let’s just say I am sceptical about that.

This reminds me on the behaviour on some digital camera manufacturers in the past. Sometimes, for a new camera model they made a feature worse. Then for a later model they could essentially bring it back again and did market that as an improvement.

Usually, I adapt myself quite quickly to new changes but this one is not useful at all.
I agree that I like to see the charts first, with today’s numbers straight away, that before were on the right side. It was also easier to enter listening time and other metrics.

Now, I usually open the page and I click to see the charts, or I click to see today’s numbers. I don’t even look at the first page anymore, a part for searching the right tiny (+) to add additional metrics.

:unamused:

Yes. +1.

In the past year plus I have yet to see LingQ make any sensible UI changes.

It’s all about adding features without heed to user interface (UI) standards or user experience (UX) or fixing bugs.

TLDR: LingQ keeps adding features I don’t care about, while adding clicks and bugs to my daily experience.

Totally agree with you guys. Unfortunately Lingq seems to enjoy making things more difficult for their users, just like the dictionaries and the saved meanings that can only be accessed with extra clicks and unnecessary drop down menus. I mean come on. UI/UX is at the core of every 101 developer course and Lingq fails miserably on that, just like they are unable to solve the many bugs on the platform. There are so many of them now it’s got completely out of hand.

I just wish they would pause adding on new features and work hard on solving existing issues. They seem very poorly organised. As far as I am concerned, I use Lingq mainly as an ereader and have given up on other functionalities in order to save myself time and frustration.

I agree. Looks like the developers forgot the adage “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

I really wish they would fix stuff that actually does need fixing, rather than continually messing with stuff that’s fine as it is.

Heck, I’d even be for them giving us an optional “Are you sure?” popup when we click on the button to complete a lesson, just so those who can’t seem to stop accidentally clicking on it will finally be happy.

Unfortunately, I have given up on using many functionalities for the same reason. I just keep at the essentials to avoid extra frustration.

This really made my day!

My first impression was that I didn’t like it.

As it was, if you set the range to “all time,” you were given some sort of [arbitrary?] indicator about reaching like this end goal across a handful of categories–number of words read, number of hours listened to number of speaking hours, words written, number of LingQ, number of words, etc.

I had several “done,” with the line graph being at that 100% [of something] for most of those metrics. I had two metrics yet to go–total vocabulary in words and number of LingQs.

I was thinking that sometime maybe around September or October, I’d get to 100% of all of these metrics for my study of French.

Poof. Gone.

Now, I almost have to wrestle with the painful fact that I’ll never be “done” with my French studies. There is no end in sight, not even an arbitrary one.

You’re right. That target number for “all time” is now completely gone. Very disappointing.

Whatever level you were on, Beginner 1, Beginner 2, etc., determined these numbers. Once you got to the next level they’d raise (until you get to Advanced 2 and there are no more levels).

About the original post, +1. The new way of displaying stats is terrible.

This is a thing already isn’t it? If you missed blue words it pops up
