Lingq main page is broken (PC)

@kipling1 You will be able to use LingQ without issues on any browser on Windows 10.

@YuriRaletko99 If you are unable to update your system version, I suggest you install different browsers and try LingQ on each of them, maybe it will work on some of them.

I tried every other browser. From Opera to Safari. I think it’s about Win7.
Turned out that now i can’t even import anything. It displays an error “Importing failed - ‘utf-8’ codec can’t decode byte 0xcf in position 0: invalid continuation byte”. It was main way of learning here. I guess i’m done with LingQ and delete my account. At least until i’m able to update my OS.
I’m really not a fan of that modern policy called “fix something that already works and break it”.

@YuriRaletko99 I understand your disappointment, but this one really wasn’t about “fixing something that already works”. We are required to make updates on our end too, software and server-related. Unfortunately, updating things sometimes leaves old and outdated systems behind. Windows 7 support stopped 10 years ago as well as browser versions updates for it. I understand that a small percentage of users are still on it, but for some things, it’s not possible to support them forever.

I’m personally just rolling with the inconveniences for now, as much as I dislike them. My current hardware won’t support Windows 10 realistically, and my browsers are all already upgraded as far as they will go.

I may try seeing if ChromeOS Flex or another flavor of Linux that supports more modern browsers will run on this machine. If not I’ll have to shop for bargains on eBay or elsewhere to find a cheap older PC that will support an OS that lets me use the latest browsers. I’m not a hardcore gamer, my needs are simple, and being on a fixed income I don’t like spending money on expensive computers.

And life goes on…
